If you're anything like me you cannot walk past the makeup section of any store....ever. The following is a list of five drug store products that I use, adore and recommend.
I'm not a big fan of foundation, most people aren't wearing the right shade for their skin and looking at it annoys me. I usually don't wear much makeup (thus the name of the blog) unless I'm going out or I know I'm going to have my picture taken. I love the CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer because it really doesn't feel like anything more than moisturizer and it provides a nice smooth look. It's $7.79 at Walgreens.
Covergirl Smoothers Tinted Moisture with SPF 15
I am super picky and have a lot to say about mascara, but I will spare you and just say that of all of the brands I've tried this is my all time #1 favorite mascara. The wand is really fluffy and it thickens and lengthens lashes. $6.54 at Target.
L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara
Lip stains add the color of lipstick without the creaminess or transfer issues, like the lipstick on your coffee cup. It's just color, you can wear them plain or put a little gloss over the top. These CG lipstains last quite a long time and they have a nice faint smell. $8.99 Walgreens
Covergirl Outlast Lipstain
I've read that you can use castile soap for a bunch of things so I decided to try it for washing makeup brushes (a task I feel like I spend 80% of my life doing) I was very pleasantly surprised by this soap, it actually foams better than any of the other soaps specifically made for makeup brushes. This mild soap leaves the brushes clean, soft and smelling faintly of lavender. I haven't had to condition the brushes at all since I started using this soap! $9.99 Target
Dr. Bronner's Pure Castile Soap - Lavender
E.L.F. (Eyes Lips Face) products sometimes pop up at Target and they often have a great selection of colors that come in a five pack. They feel light and not at all sticky. These are especially helpful if you tend to misplace your gloss and always find yourself buying more. $5.00 Target.
E.L.F. Lipgloss
Have fun shopping!

Spring Fling!
MAC eyeshadow in Rule is a gorgeous peachy orange color that really makes blue eyes pop, I'm actually wearing a little myself and it also works wonders with greenish brown eyes. Smashbox's Pale Gold eyeshadow adds a lovely but subtle shimmer that really brightens the eyes.

Starting from the inner corner of your upper lid apply the Pale Gold in an opposite sideways V meeting Rule about half way and extending the top of the V a little farther just beneath the arch of your eyebrow.
Now blend well, really well. You want to introduce the colors to each other, let them mingle and finally create something beautiful together. Hopefully you get the point, we don't want distinct lines of shadow, that's not cute.
Finish the look by curing your lashes and applying mascara.
For a more dramatic look line the eyes with a dark liner and smudge out, heck, even add some false lashes.
Now you're ready, get out there and have your Spring fling!

what's in a name?
The Naked Makeup Artist.
No, I’m not actually naked. I decided on that name for my blog because I personally don’t wear much makeup on a daily basis. I usually just go for a little eyeliner and mascara, throw in a pinch of blush and I’m good. It feels a little odd considering how much I love makeup and what a big part of my life it is. I’m not sure if this goes along with the painter whose own walls remain neglected or the doctor who doesn’t take care of himself…oh well. Maybe wearing more makeup should be my resolution for 2010?

Eyelash Curler = New Best Friend
Are you intimidated by your eyelash curler? Well don’t be, this tricky looking beauty tool will soon be your best friend. An eyelash curler can completely transform your look in 30 seconds giving your eyes a more open, bright & feminine look.
1. Start with clean, dry lashes.
2. Position your eyelash curler around your eyelashes – the upper lashes must be between the edges of the curler.
3. Move the curler closer to the eye until the tool comes to the base of the lashes, but not over the skin of the eyelid.
4. Keep the eye open and slowly close the curler. Your eyelashes should fan out evenly across the upper bar. If at any time you feel pinching, readjust the curler.
5. Hold the closed curler for a slow count of five, keeping your hand and face steady. Repeat for additional volume. Now, do the same thing on the other eye.
Follow up with a quick application of mascara and you’re set for the day!
